In Memoriam

'Sassy' is a registered Thoroughbred who traces back on her dam's side to War Admiral and Man o' War. She carries the blood of Nasrullah, Nearco and Native Dancer, excellent lines for sport horses. In fact, Peter Birdsall says that Nasrullah appears in the bloodlines of more world class horses than any other name. She is approved MMB for breeding by the ISR/Oldenburg, and has produced Premium foals.

Sass had a wonderful foal by Hawthorne in 1998 and an outstanding filly by Hawthorne in 2000. She was bred to Bugatti Hilltop (Bergammon - Rubinstein - Donnerhall) in 2002 for a 2003 foal. Bugatti traces back to Bolero, Donnerhall and Rubenstein - stallions known for the rideability of their offspring.

Hawthorne's sire, Olympic Cocktail is number 6 on the Dressage Horse Sires of the World list. Olympic Cocktail was Anky van Grunsven's horse on the Dutch olympic dressage team. Olympic Cocktail was named 1995 Horse of the Year by the KWPN and was named a Kuer stallion. Cocktail is now deceased. Hawthorne is now competing and winning in dressage for Hilltop farm at Prix St. George and I1 and has recently been gelded and sent to Germany with his trainer, Barb Strawson, to study with Nicole Uphoff.

Bugatti Hilltop, at a very young age, has already been named an Elite Hannoverian stallion and is also approved for breeding with ISR/OLNA.
